JV2 2023

16 talented, young, international dancers from Jasmin Vardimon Company’s JV2 programme will premiere works by Jasmin Vardimon Company dancers & emerging choreographers Evelyn Hart & Sean Moss. The triple bill will culminate with ‘Canvas’, choreographed by multi-award-winning, Jasmin Vardimon MBE.

The established JV2 Professional Development Diploma was developed by Jasmin Vardimon Company with the mission to encourage, cultivate and nurture young talent. The programme offers young dancers a unique opportunity to train as versatile and multi-disciplinary performers, under the guidance of one of the world’s leading female choreographers. This brilliant dance ensemble, hand-picked by Jasmin Vardimon, showcases an exciting and energetic mix of inventive choreography and exceptional new talent.

Canvas

Choreographed by Jasmin Vardimon MBE. Presented in a non-theatre space, Canvas invites the audience to come up close around a massive canvas, using the movement as brush strokes to draw an engaging picture. Using Jasmin Vardimon Company repertoire it explores how group dynamics evolve, give rise and sometime swallow individuals within it.

Rat Race by Evelyn Hart
A pointless pursuit for power, money, success… or cheese. We inhabit no sense of self or identity outside of the race, an infinite system designed for those that have less and crave more. A system mass producing carbon copied individuals – minds numbed by our daily commutes, our flavourless meal deals and hypnotised by self-help podcasts. Blind to the idea of freedom. How do we escape the race, is it music, is it love? Live to work or work to live? I wake up, exist, I wake again.

Friendly Locals by Sean Moss
Welcome to The Dante’s Arms, take a seat, have a drink, meet the locals they’re… unique.  Relax, get comfortable and stay a while, there’s so much to do and even more to see. Just beware, it may be harder to leave than you think.

With intense physicality, hard hitting soundtrack and an excess of punk attitude watch 16 talented dancers go to hell and back just to get through the day; health and safety be damned, here we play rough!
